Partnership Grant Criteria

Partnership requests to Gather & Care (G&C) are viewed through a set of criteria that together form the parameters by which partnership decisions are made. Prospective applicants are urged to pay close attention to these criteria when deciding whether to make a request.

Sustainable Ministries: G&C provides matching grants for churches to develop creative programs that will minister holistically to the fatherless and husbandless in sustainable ways. Letters of Inquiry will be examined to determine whether the program strengthens the vitality of the local church to care for the fatherless and husbandless in her community.

Contribution of the Local Church: G&C views financial and in-kind investment in the ministry by the church as a primary indicator of the significance, accountability, and sustainability of the ministry. The applicant church must commit to fund 1/2 of the financial needs of the ministry through cash and/or in-kind resources. G&C will match the partner church’s contributions, not to exceed 10,000.00 USD for each qualified ministry per year.

Church Based: It is important that G&C partnerships are supported by the church leadership, led by lay leaders, and owned by the congregation. Funding priority is given to ministries already underway by the applicant church.

Evangelism & Discipleship: G&C desires to see holistic transformation in the lives of the fatherless and husbandless who are served by our church partners. The church-based ministries we partner with must have a spiritual component to their programming that incorporates the Word of God through Biblical teaching, pastoral support, and involvement of the church congregation as ambassadors of Christ.

Reporting: Grant partners will be required to submit semi-annual reports in accordance with G&C’s Reporting Guidelines. The reports will demonstrate the impact the church has had in transforming the lives of the fatherless and husbandless, the church leadership, ministry team, and the congregation.
